Thanks for visiting our services page. While what we can accomplish for you is extensive and while we couldn’t possibly detail every single thing we do, we thought offering a list of general work areas would be helpful. Before we list those areas though, please read through the following examples of job types we’ve engaged in through the years. These are the types of jobs that consume most of our days. While there are more custom areas of work we handle, what’s listed below is what we do 80% of the time.
Example Job Types
Example #1 – A woman calls from Poughkeepsie, New York. She and her husband have decided to add an extension to their existing home. She’d like a consultation to see if the extension will require more power to the home overall (a higher amperage service) and she’d also like the entire extension wired. We do these types of jobs all the time. Oftentimes, in cases like these, we’ll upgrade the existing panel so more electricity can flow into the home or add a sub-panel for the extension only. If the house’s current amperage is ample, we’ll leave the panel alone and simply add more circuit breakers to feed the additional living space. We also handle all sorts of electrical wiring, from light switches and outlets (receptacles) to ceiling and kitchen cabinet lighting as well as circuits for appliances.
Example #2 – A gentleman calls from Danbury, Connecticut. He’s having a new shed installed which he’d like to have powered. He would also like to convert his garage into a gym. For that, he’d like electric or some other type of heat installed and needs to upgrade the garage’s lighting. Jobs like these are straightforward for us and we handle them without issue. We’re always happy to consult with a homeowner to help guide heating/cooling and other electrical decisions. We also take great pride in converting existing spaces into more customized and livable zones.
Example #3 – A contractor calls from Brewster, New York. He’s building a new home and needs the entire house to come to life, electrically. He’ll hire us to handle everything, from installing the service panel to the wiring to the installation of switches and electrical outlets. We’ll also take care of specialized areas that call for higher amperage, such as wiring for pools, hot tubs, electric stoves, dryers, and hot water heaters to name a few. If the appliance calls for electricity, we can handle its needs.
Example #4 – A customer calls from Pawling, New York. She tells us one of the light switches in her kitchen seems loose and is causing the kitchen light to flicker intermittently. This is actually a dangerous situation, so we act immediately. While on the job, we notice that much of the wiring in her kitchen is brittle and is nowhere near today’s electrical code, so we suggest replacing it, along with all of the switches and receptacles. Her house was built in 1890 and the home’s wiring is quite aged. We encounter these types of situations frequently and we always take the proper course of action. Home wiring usually lasts between 30 and 50 years, so when we see wiring that’s older than that, we definitely suggest a rewire. It’s best to get the entire system up to code and to today’s modern standards.
